Shawn started his career in the military. He earned his bachelor’s degree from Saint Bonaventure University on a full 4-year Army scholarship and was commissioned as a second lieutenant in 1988. He served as an Engineer Officer and was honorably discharged from the Army Reserve in 1996, having attained the rank of Captain.
Following his military service, Shawn pursued higher education with remarkable tenacity. He earned his MBA from Binghamton University, followed by a Juris Doctor with a concentration in finance transactions from the University at Buffalo. Recognizing the intricate relationship between law and finance, particularly in estate planning, Shawn further honed his expertise by obtaining a Master of Laws in Taxation from the University of Denver.
Throughout his career, Shawn has worn many professional hats, each contributing to his holistic approach to law. He has served as an underwriter, a Series 7 Registered Representative, In-House counsel for a financial services company, and a Chief Compliance Officer. These varied roles have given him insight into the multifaceted nature of financial and legal challenges his clients often face.
Originally from New York state, Shawn now resides with his wife, Elinor, and together they are proud parents to their daughter, Molly Rose, who is currently pursuing her college education. When not serving his clients, Shawn maintains a balanced life through his interests in martial arts and cooking. He also cherishes time spent with his two dogs, Ranger and Sapper, names that perhaps hint at his military background.
In Shawn C. O'Buckley, clients find not just an attorney, but a trusted advisor who brings a wealth of knowledge, a diversity of experience, and a genuine commitment to their well-being.
